Embotics has signed a new UK distribution agreement with Zycko for its flagship vCommander virtualisation and cloud management software as it attempts to double the size of its UK channel to 40 partners.

However, Embotics has dropped distie Avnet, which according to Colin Wright, Embotics' VP for EMEA is a result of Avnet’s acquisition of Magirus which caused its focus to move away from Embotics core expertise in virtualisation and cloud management.

“As a result, we made the decision to amicably end the partnership between Embotics and Avnet. This decision was really a result of the positives to be gained from working with Zycko, rather than any negative on Avnet’s part. The new partnership with Zycko further strengthens Embotics’ UK channel footprint, and we look forward to building a long and successful relationship together” says Wright.

“We’ve been hugely impressed by Zycko’s ability to quickly onboard new technologies, and the level of support it provides its resellers. Partnering with Zycko will certainly help us engage with more UK resellers and fits in with our strategy of working with distribution partners that offer real added value and service opportunities for resellers,” he adds.

Embotics vCommander provides visibility into virtual and private cloud environments, which the firm claims can help customers identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in their virtual datacentres and dramatically lower the costs of deploying private clouds. In addition, the Zycko partnership will allow Embotics target key Microsoft channel partners as the latest release of vCommander supports both Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere environments.

“We’re very excited to be bringing Embotics vCommander into our solutions portfolio,” says David Galton-Fenzi, CEO of Zycko. “Our large reseller base trusts in Zycko to bring them the latest technologies that have the potential to add value to their business and generate additional revenue. Embotics vCommander falls firmly into that category.”

“If resellers are to open up new revenue streams from virtualisation technology, they first need to clearly demonstrate how they are adding value for their customers. Embotics vCommander provides exactly this capability for our resellers; enabling them to drive better returns for their customers’ investments in virtualisation technology in just a matter of weeks,” he adds.

Embotics current distribution agreement with Prianto remains unaffected by the new deal.
