Today’s teens will shape tomorrow’s workplace communications
Research shows that the preferred communications methods of teens may not be in use by organisations

There is a big disconnect between the methods teenagers use to communicate and those deployed in the workplace currently.
According to a report by communications firm Fuze, just one per cent of teens prefer using a landline phone to chat to friends. However, nearly two-thirds (63 per cent) of UK office works see the desk phone as an essential tool for work. The study shines a light on the future problems businesses could have if there haven't yet deployed mobile and unified communications.
The study of 2,500 teenagers and 5,000 adult office workers across Europe found that most teens (57 per cent) use video calling apps, but less than a half (47 per cent) of adults used video calling at work.
The survey also had some insights into UK teenagers use of technology in schools. Nearly two-thirds (63 per cent) who think they know more about technology than their teachers, 82 per cent think they know more about tech than their parents, and 82 per cent who want to be able to use that latest tech at work.
There are interesting parallels between this and adults currently in the workplace, 66 per cent of whom said their workplace technology needs to catch up to their personal technology.
