IBM Alert Notification issues DevOps with critical alerts
The early warning system means developers can rectify issues before customers are affected

IBM has launched an alert notification system that lets DevOps teams know when their apps may have critical issues, serving as an early warning system to help rectify issues before they affect customers.
The Alert Notification offering is available on IBM's Bluemix cloud platform and uses real-time and historical network analytics to let developers know before an issue even arises. The data is viewable from a single interface and can be customised to send out alerts when a specific problem occurs via email, voice or text, depending on the team's preferences.
Additionally, developers can use the REST API to further personalise alerts according to the team's needs and priorities, ultimately reducing business application downtime. Alerts can be set up for specific teams or the entire DevOps operation and it will let administrators know when a critical threat needs to be addressed with some urgency so they are not acting unnecessarily.
For example, admins can set up the alerts so only a specific project team gets alerts relevant to them, or on-call staff are told when an app has a problem out of working hours.
IBM Alert Notification is available for pure cloud environments, plus those utilising on-premise and hybrid infrastructures to ensure it's as flexible as possible.
"To ensure teams never miss any actionable, crucial alerts, IBM Alert Notification Service is built to allow teams to create customised notification policies, ensuring alerts are routed immediately to the right team members," IBM said in a statement. "Further raising the visibility of alerts, this tool also allows users to opt to receive alerts via text or voicemail, in addition to e-mail."
