Enta on fire in Dragon Boat face-off

Team sport

It was paddles at the ready for staff members at disitie Entatech UK on Sunday June 30, as they participated in a boat race in aid of Severn Hospice, raising more £2000 in the process.

Each year Shropshire-based charity Severn Hospice holds the annual Dragon Boat Race at the Pengwern Boat Club in Shrewsbury. Teams from all across Shropshire paddle it out to see who will be victorious – while raising money for a fantastic cause.

As Entatech found out, it is also a great way to get the competitive spirit flowing as their team, Enta-tech-No-Notice (pictured), took part in a traditional head-to-head race against sister company, Entanet, in which Entatech were crowned jubilant winners.

Getting into the spirit dressed as sailors, Entatech competed in a number of races throughout the day, reaching the semi-finals. Although they unfortunately didn’t get through this stage, they walked away with the 2nd fastest time in the qualifying rounds. In one race, the team’s drummer even took an unfortunate dip in the River Severn when the boat nearly capsized!

Entatech director, Jon Atherton, comments: “We’ve been a massive supporter of the Severn Hospice for a number of years and always jump at the chance to participate in the annual Dragon Boat race. Not only is this a great way to raise money for a worthwhile cause and a great team building exercise, but it also poses an opportunity for us to bring our two companies together, strengthening our bond as a group.”

Previous to Sunday’s event, Entatech joined Entanet in a series of fund-raising activities including arm wrestling and mummifying staff members in toilet paper. They also held a raffle and cake sale, where staff members brought in homemade cakes and savoury snacks to be sold. As a group, Entatech and Entanet raised more than £2,000 for the charity.
