Huawei has named Simon Culmer as its new VP of enterprise in the UK and Ireland as part of the vendor’s plan to ramp up its enterprise business. He will be responsible for sales and marketing of the UK business, including setting up Huawei’s local distribution channel.

Culmer (pictured) is an industry veteran, with 12 years at Sun Microsystems (now Oracle) and 11 years at Cisco systems under his belt.

“I’m very excited to be leading Huawei Enterprise as it becomes a growing force in the UK and Ireland Enterprise market with plans to match the significant success that is being enjoyed in the carrier, mobile and terminal divisions,” says Culmer.

“I look forward to building and leading a team of industry and partner experts to ensure that Huawei rapidly becomes a significant contributor to the enterprise market. We will be delivering an unmatched and incredibly broad set of solutions including routing and switching, IP telephony, call centre technology, video telephony, telepresence solutions, servers and storage, tablets and smart phones plus many more innovative solutions.”

Explains Victor Zhang, CEO of Huawei UK: “Early this year, Huawei announced its plan of stepping up its enterprise business by establishing a new Enterprise division. Simon’s appointment is a statement for our ambition to become a serious player in the enterprise field. We welcome more industry expertise joining Huawei to continue to bring long-term benefits to our customers and partners.”
