EMC (NYSE:EMC) has recruited former Colt exec Simon Walsh as it’s new chief operating officer for EMEA.

Reporting to EMC’s EMEA president, Adrian McDonald, Walsh will be responsible for developing the company’s go-to-market strategy and workforce across the region.

Walsh had held the post of executive VP at Colt, and was a member of the Executive Committee with responsibility for the Pan-European enterprise division. Prior to this, he was MD at Computacenter UK Ltd.

“I am looking forward to working with EMC’s talented and passionate team in the EMEA region – and the timing is perfect,” says Walsh.

“2014 is set to see unprecedented change in the technology industry as we move from one era of computing to the next, which will be built on mobile, social networking, cloud services and Big Data analytics technologies. Our job is to help our customers manage this challenge and redefine the delivery of IT so that it becomes a truly competitive advantage to their business.

“In this dynamic but exciting context, EMC has big aspirations for 2014 and I look forward to making my own contributions to our customers’ success over the months ahead.”
