Nexsan has appointed Read Fenner as vice president of global sales to help the company expand its reach worldwide.

He will work on growing the presence of Nexsan’s storage products, while also continuing to look after Drobo’s sales following the acquisition of both Drobo and Nexsan by StorCentric earlier in the year.

A major part of Fenner’s new role will be developing a value proposition to enable partners to increase their profit margins and increasing sales for Nexsan and Drobo.

“Read has been instrumental in our success, and his appointment to manage both brands highlights our continued commitment towards our customers and the channel,” said Mihir Shah, CEO at StorCentric. “His sales leadership and past success align with our strategy as we execute on growth and innovation in the storage industry.”

Before the acquisition, Fenner was previously VP of global sales for Drobo, a position that he held for over a year. Prior to that, he held a range of positions at Buffalo Technology, where he was responsible for rolling out a companywide sales strategy, developing its channel programme and achieved a sales margin increase of 11%, from 29% to 40%.

“Nexsan has a strong channel offering, and I look forward to building on its track record,” Fenner said. “Over the next year, we will be adding to our lead-generation programs to send more well-qualified leads to our partners along with helping them to drive additional margin. I appreciate the power of the channel and the importance of building and maintaining tight relationships.”

StorCentric has invested heavily in Nexsan and Drobo since buying the storage firms. Earlier this year, the company appointed Mark Walker as channel sales director for UK and Ireland and has developed its Nexsan channel programme to help partners increase their profit through deal registration, sales enablement, marketing support, training and MDF funds.
