Dell ties up with O2 to punt out-of-box mobile connectivity
NetReady PAYG Sim pre-installed in laptops and tablets
Dell has launched its NetReady service in Europe which offers out-of-the-box mobile connectivity integrated into the firm's laptops and tablets.
The service has been launched in UK, Ireland, Germany, Spain and the Czech Republic. The pay-as-you-go bundle offers mobile connectivity with a single integrated SIM and is pre-installed in select consumer and commercial products in the Inspiron,XPS, Latitude, Precision and Vostro range.
The service is provided by Telefonica, who owns O2, and comes with no fixed contract and no additional roaming charges. It said that the service provides a secure, cost-effective alternative to the insecure, costly Wi-Fi and internet access that mobile workers frequently have to resort to.
It also comes with Computrace support and the free hardware assigned SIM-card for improved security.
Once registered, a range of pay-as-you-go bundles are available starting from 30 minutes for 99p and ranging up to one month (16.99). Two tariff structures have been created providing long-term access and short-term data roaming charges. "Bundles also move with the user from country to country ensuring clear pricing at all times," said the firm in a blog posting.
Dell aims to extend the service to most European countries but did not give details of timings.
