Of course HP isn't selling laptops for £2 (anymore)
HP accidentally listed top-end laptops for £2 on its own website
HP laptop for 2? Of course it's too good to be true.
Online shoppers were surprised to see HP list some of its laptops for less than two quid, when they normally sell for thousands of pounds.
One laptop previously retailed at 2,378 was listed for 1.58.
The markdown was a mistake rather than the sale of the millennium, HP said, and it would refund shoppers' 2 rather than ship the laptops at such a loss.
"We can confirm that due to a processing error, select products were wrongly priced on our UK website over the weekend," the company said. "This has now been corrected with related orders cancelled."
"We apologise sincerely to impacted customers for any inconvenience caused," the firm added.
Citizens Advice told the BBCthat companies were within their rights to cancel and refund orders if the mistake was "genuine" and customers could have reasonably been expected to notice it was an error.
