Toshiba unveils Windows 8 Pro tablet for enterprise
The 11.6in Windows tablet will feature 4G connectivity and TPM module.
Toshiba has unveiled a Windows 8 tablet which aims to lure enterprise users away from Apple iPads.
Key features of the WT310 tablet include the 11.6in Full HD display with an anti-glare coating, USB 3 connectivity and optional support for 4G connectivity. IT managers will be able to manage the tablet remotely through Intel's Active Management Technology.
Running 64-bit Windows 8 Pro, and powered by Intel's 3rd Generation (Ivy Bridge) processors, the tablet will be able to support all legacy applications. It also comes with aDigitizerPen stylus, which Toshiba claims will allow handwritten notes to converted into an editable document.
Toshiba has also built in micro-HDMI and an SD card slot as well as support for Wi-Fi with Intel Wireless Display and Bluetooth 4 support. An optional docking cradle features additional ports for connecting to a keyboard, mouse or external hard drive.
The firm said that the tablet has a "resilient plastic coating" that ensures internal components are protected from damage in the event of accidental drops, knocks or even heavy pressure. The WT310 also comes with Intel Anti-Theft software and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), which safeguards local data.
The tablet will be available in the UK from Q2 this year. It will go head-to-head with Microsoft's forthcoming Surface Pro as well as rival OEM devices such as the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2.
Toshiba has yet to announce pricing for the device.
