Google Glass: Can SiMEye & others challenge the throne?
With the emergence of Google Glass rivals, what does the future hold for this technology?
Virgin Atlantic also underwent a successful trial of wearable tech including Google Glass, and is currently creating plans for a wide-scale rollout.
The potential benefits of a hands-free, voice activated device with the capabilities smart glasses claim to have are huge, with businesses around the world expected to utilise it in the future. But what does the emergence of rival products like SiMEye tell us? Does this signal that Google has something worth copying, or simply that it can be done better by a different company?
In addition to the new product from ChipSiP, an early prototype for wearable technology from Dyson, much like Google Glass, was also revealed last week.
Despite these genuine rivals to Google Glass now gaining interest, the fact still remains that the launch of wearable tech glasses has been far from seamless.
With smartwatches gaining on the idea with increasing speed, it could be that the time for both Google Glass and SiMEye is over before it has even begun.
