Not content with offering the biggest range of desktop and rack NAS appliances, Qnap now adds even more choice within specific families. The latest TVS-x71 series comprises three desktop and two rack mount models with the flagship 12-bay TVS-1271U-RP on review available with four different Haswell CPU and memory combinations.
Prices start at around 1,317 for the entry model with a Pentium G3250 and 4GB of RAM, step up to 1,985 for a 3.5GHz Core i3-4150 with 8GB and on to 2,021 for a 3GHz Core i5-4590S and 16GB. The top model has a quad-core 3.2GHz Core i7-4790S and the maximum 32GB of memory with a diskless one costing 2,254.
The entire TVS-x71 series includes quad Gigabit ports that can be aggregated into fault tolerant or load balanced links. They also have two PCI-Express slots and can be upgraded to quad 10GbE using industry-standard Intel and Emulex adapters.
