Avast launches premium browser with built-in VPN
Avast Secure Browser Pro is available now on Windows 10, iOS and Android
Avast has launched Avast Secure Browser Pro, a premium, Chromium-based browser for Windows PCs.
The new browser features an integrated virtual private network (VPN) for users seeking lightweight yet robust security, privacy, and performance utilities. Avast Secure Browser Pro also includes advanced ad blocking technology to maximize user privacy.
Avast introduced a built-in VPN for its premium mobile browser for Android and iOS in 2020. Extending the support to premium version of Avast Secure Browser on PC underscores the firm's commitment to providing secure and fast browsing experiences across devices and operating systems, the company says.
"The browser is the modern day operating system, and with browser-based web threats one of the most common avenues of attack, we have a responsibility to protect our customers online by keeping their internet connections secure and private," said Fiona Cliffe, director of browser product at Avast.
"We've built our browser around a Security & Privacy Center to provide this in a way that is frictionless for the user and based on the belief that in order to preserve people's digital freedom, security and privacy needs to be simplified and demystified."
As part of its latest browser offering, Avast also offers privacy and compatibility features that complement its existing anti-phishing technology, anti-tracking, Bank Mode, and password manager technologies.
The Advanced Adblock feature blocks all ads that violate the Acceptable Ads Standard, including pop-ups and auto-play videos, while the built-in VPN secures all incoming and outgoing connections with encryption.
