Nationwide signs up BT to underpin digital activity in branches
New BT network will support back-office IT and customer-facing apps

BT will underpin Nationwide Building Society's digital strategy with a new network infrastructure that will support applications and services used by 15 million customers.
The bank today signed a six-year deal with BT for the telco to connect all of Nationwide's 700 branches, its head office and contact centres together on a new network.
Building on an existing BT network, the new one will also support 17,000 Nationwide employees, as well as customers.
It means Nationwide can develop new back-office IT systems for the former, and introduce innovative applications to help the latter.
Debra Bailey, Nationwide's CIO, said: "Our latest investment with BT provides us with a great network platform to support our digital banking strategy. It gives us the agility to innovate as well as the reliability and security to confidently deliver our digital services.
"A reliable network infrastructure with always on' service levels is a core component of our digital transformation strategy and will help ensure that we continue to offer market leading customer satisfaction."
The network will help Nationwide further its digital strategy, building on its mobile and digital banking apps to support various digital activities within its branches.
