Three men charged over FA hacking offences
Football referee among those charged.
Three men have been charged over allegations of hacking at the Football Association. One of the men is a senior member of the FA's referee department.
Referee Dean Mohareb, 30, of Woodley, Stockport is charged with perverting the course of justice and unauthorised access to computer data. Mohareb is the FA's national referee development manager and a Football League match official.
He was arrested in October 2012 over allegations that he hacked into a colleague's email account. Police seized a number of items from his house on that occasion.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the arrest of the official and two other men, Liam Cliff, 18, from Manchester, and Vincent Rossi, 46, from Wilmslow, have been charged with perverting the course of justice. It is understood that these two are not FA employees.
Greater Manchester Police have been investigating allegations of computer hacking and the dissemination of private information at the FA.
The three are due to appear before Stockport Magistrates Court on Thursday, 5 December. It is thought that the case may be referred to a crown court. If found guilty, the defendants could receive a custodial sentence.
The FA has declined to comment while legal proceedings are ongoing.
