Commvault ushers in new leadership to drive growth
Sanjay Mirchandani has been appointed president and chief executive officer
Commvault has appointed ex-Puppet CEO Sanjay Mirchandani as president and chief executive officer and member of the board in its drive for enhanced business performance and growth.
Mirchandani comes fully prepped for the role, with previous experience gained at VMware, EMC and Microsoft in various leadership positions. While at Puppet, he led the business to significant user growth, building its client base to cover 75% of the Fortune 100.
"Sanjay's accomplishments at Puppet demonstrate a deep understanding of multi-cloud and cloud native applications," said Commvault's incoming Chairman, Nick Adamo. "We are confident he is the ideal person to build on Commvault's current momentum and champion the rich heritage of combining innovation with unwavering focus on customer and partner success."
Mirchandani will replace the company's previous president and CEO Bob Hammer who has taken retirement following more than 20 years at the firm. Nick Adamo has also been appointed a new role at Commvault. He will join as chairman of the board, taking over from Hammer, who will remain as chairman emeritus.
"I'm honoured to join the Commvault team with its respected reputation, industry-leading technology and services, and infectious company culture," said Mirchandani. "Commvault's partner-driven approach is closely aligned with my own. I look forward to being an advocate for our customer, channel and partner ecosystems to deliver complete solutions."
Commvault is in the process of transforming its products and services to better suit cloud environments and the move seems to be paying dividends, with revenues growing 15% year-on-year according to its Q3 results. This evolution seems to have been spurred on by investor Elliot Management, which said it wanted the company to focus on improving profit margins to return some cash to investors.
