Wick Hill appointed distributor for Avecto

Endpoint security company Avecto has expanded its distribution footprint in the UK with a new agreement with Wick Hill.

Wick Hill will offer the British vendor’s Defendpoint software – which combines privilege management, application control and sandboxing in a single integrated security suite – to its reseller base.

“These three areas combine to help organisations solve many of the modern day security challenges outlined by third parties like NIST, CPNI, SANS and GCHQ/CESG in their cyber essentials guidance,” says Richard Brooks, VP of sales for EMEA.

“Defendpoint proves that prevention is possible by tackling the new threat landscape head on and mitigating against unknown threats, which many legacy security solutions can’t. Many of these solutions rely on reacting to stop the threat, whereas we believe it’s best to stop the threat ever reaching your environment in the first place. This is why we advocate the principle of defence in depth which Defendpoint offers.”

Ian Kilpatrick, chairman Wick Hill Group says that while some businesses have some elements of this, very few have all three.

He comments: “Avecto’s Defendpoint…works alongside the majority of our portfolio to fill this increasingly important threat area of managing user privileges, which is an ever increasing risk area, application control so that only valid applications are run, and sandboxing – securely managing against day zero threats actually getting on to the network through users accessing or being exposed to day zero attacks.

“In combination this radically reduces the risks from threats that users can expose themselves to outside the network or which have evaded existing security protection.”

Established in 2008, Cheshire-based Avecto has offices in the US, Australia and DACH region.

The vendor signed up Arrow ECS in January as part of a drive to sign up new channel partners.*

On its decision to add Wick Hill to its distribution line-up, Brooks tells Channel Pro: “For a fast growing vendor like Avecto we needed a partner that was prepared to work with us in developing our channel footprint. Wick Hill also has a track record of taking a business of our size ($28,000,000 revenue globally) to even greater success with their expertise and specialist knowledge in the UK channel security space.”

Brooks adds that Avecto’s partner programme “is proving very attractive, with a generous tiered structure of margin discount and deal registration.”

He adds: “We also assist partners with Wick Hill to build their professional services capabilities to deliver Avecto solutions and increase the value they bring to their customers. Our philosophy is to work with the Partners to build a joint go-to-market plan that ensures success.”

Update: Avecto confirmed after the story's publication that it is no longer working with Arrow.
