Heimdal Security unveils major UK growth plans
The UK will become the Danish cyber security firm's biggest global operation
Danish cyber security vendor Heimdal Security has announced new major UK growth plans that will see the country become its biggest global operation.
The firm has cut the ribbon on a second UK office, as well as signed a new long-term distribution agreement as it looks to capitalise on strong recent growth.
Based in Leeds, the new office is just a stone’s throw away from Yorkshire-based Brigantia, which has now become Heimdal’s new master distributor for the UK and Ireland.
Heimdal currently operates a team of 30 staff based in Leeds and London but says it expects to more than treble that figure in the coming year – outstripping the size of its teams in Copenhagen and Romania.
Established in 2014, the provider also aims to grow UK revenue by 500% by the end of 2021, with the aim of becoming one of the country’s biggest cyber security vendors and a market leader in its field.
Heimdal has been growing rapidly since it received investment in the business from Marlin Equity Partners back in March 2020, as well as the appointment of former KnowBe4 MD Ruth Schofield as Country Manager back in September.
“Heimdal’s investment in the UK will be our biggest in any market,” Schofield commented. “We believe it is an ideal location for an ambitious cybersecurity firm and will provide a springboard to the global market, helping us to achieve our goal to become the world’s leading intelligent security provider with a unified platform.”

Heimdal’s suite unifies multiple products into one single, intelligent platform, combining a wide range of technologies – from predictive DNS traffic filtering and automated patching to email security and admin rights management.
The vendor’s clients range from SMEs to large corporates like RBS, public sector bodies such as the Welsh Assembly and Belfast City Council, as well as schools and several NHS trusts.
As master distributor for the UK and Ireland, Brigantia said Heimdal’s offering represents a truly unique prospect for organisations.
“There is nothing like it on the market – not only does it simplify security and reduce costs by consolidating multiple products in one, but the automated patching solves a common problem,” said Brigantia’s Angus Shaw. “We believe it will revolutionise the market for endpoint protection.”
