Symantec logo on building

Symantec (NASDAQ:SYMC) has announced it has appointed ex-Check Point UK and Ireland managing director Keith Bird to take care of its operations in Northern Europe.

Bird will be responsible primarily for the UK, Ireland and the Nordics, with key tasks to drive business growth in the region.

Kevin Isaac, senior vice president of EMEA at Symantec says: “We are delighted to have landed someone of Keith’s calibre for this crucial senior role. Keith has an impressive track record of leading companies through growth and is very well respected in the industry.

"With Keith’s leadership we know that our UK and Northern European Region will continue to go on to great things as we protect our customers from an ever-increasing threat landscape.”

Bird's expertise lies in building upon relationships between high-touch direct sales organisations and channel partnerships. He also has extensive experience leading companies thorugh periods of transition, as is the case with Symantec's split into two separate companies.

The company will divide into the security business on one side, with the information management part on the other.

Bird says: "I am delighted to join Symantec at this exciting moment. There is no better time than now for the company to strengthen and grow its presence, and I look forward to expanding on our relationships with our partners and our customers in the UK, Ireland and Nordics.”
