Barracuda targets new firewall and backup services at MSPs
Managed Firewall and Managed Backup Appliance services will take away the need for businesses to train specialised staff

Barracuda has unveiled its Managed Firewall and Managed Backup Appliance services, which are specifically designed to help MSPs offer a wider range of services to customers looking to heighten their security and data protection.
The MSP versions of Barracuda's Barracuda NextGen Firewall and the Barracuda Backup Appliance will make it easier for MSPs to monitor their customers' security events 24 hours a day, seven days a week, working in tandem with Barracuda NextGen Firewall – Intronis MSP Edition to notify businesses if there are any immediate threats and mediate them where required.
Alerts then ensure MSPs can stay on top of any potential problems, while systems will be protected with a firewall boasting advanced threat protection, traffic optimisation, and intrusion detection and prevention.
The Managed Backup Appliance service offers the creation of flexible backups, taking into account the preferences of the customer. Files can be seeded to on-premise and cloud-based environments, with images and files replicated to either a secondary applicance or directly to the Barracuda Cloud.
Because it's a managed service offering, businesss won't waste valuable time implementing and configuring their firewall, nor will they have to train staff to manage the firewall. MSPs will also be able to take advantage of reports generated by the services to discuss a customer's security needs, potentially allowing for further business in future.
“Managing the routine backup, disaster recovery, and security services businesses require to keep their data safe and secure can take valuable time away from MSPs that could be spent on more strategic and revenue-generating activities,” said Brian Babineau, General Manager, MSP Solutions, at Barracuda.
“To help our MSP partners improve customer service levels, maximise tech utilisation, and spend less time watching and reacting to dashboards and alerts, we’ve expanded our services offerings to include options for Managed Backup Appliances and Managed Firewalls. These offerings, along with our Managed Backup services for our ECHOplatform, are designed to help MSPs increase efficiency.”
