Kofax acquisitions bolster Intelligent Automation platform

Acquisition

Intelligent automation specialist Kofax has announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Top Image Systems (TIS), following the firm's recent takeover of Nuance Document Imaging (NDI).

As a "global innovator" of on-premise, cloud-based applications that organise content-driven business processes, Kofax says the TIS addition will strengthen and enhance the digital capture and SaaS-based capabilities of its Intelligent Automation platform.

Expected to be closed by the end of June 2019, existing customers and products will continue to receive support upon completion, the firm said.

"TIS customers will enjoy single-vendor access to Kofax's Intelligent Automation solutions which deliver increased efficiency, enabling the human and digital workforces of tomorrow," said Kofax CEO Reynolds C. Bish.

"Leveraging TIS' SaaS expertise will assist us as we further advance the secure cloud capabilities of our end-to-end Intelligent Automation platform."

TIS' applications are designed to transform information entering an organisation into useful and accessible electronic data, automatically capturing, processing and delivering content to the required system or user.

"We're excited by the opportunity to join forces with Kofax," said Top Image Systems CEO Brendan F. Reidy. "Together we'll be able to provide a broader and deeper range of offerings to our customers, while leveraging the strength and stability that comes with being part of a larger global organization."

The announcement follows Kofax's recent acquisition of Nuance Document Imaging (NDI), a division of Nuance Communications, which was completed last week.

NDI software is designed to help businesses transform their information-based capture and print processes from being labour-intensive, error-prone and costly to highly-efficient, automated and secure.

The NDI addition will help drive customer by adding key technologies to the Intelligent Automation platform, Kofax says, including capture, print management and document security on multi-function peripherals (MFPs).
