Who is your tech hero? And why?
Sorry, I don't have one.
I've been in IT for 30 years. I started in midrange and mainframe programming. The changes have been so vast in the way we deliver technology that it would take too long to list them. What is constant is that we need great people to do technology.
What does your current role involve?
Building and running services and software solutions that provide key information to lawyers and support their processes.
How did you arrive at your current role?
I took on the role of Global CTO at Practical Law Company, a smaller web company in the same space. Thomson Reuters acquired the company and asked me to look after all UK Legal technology.
Did you always want to work in IT?
I started in IT, then spent many years running banking products and operations before deciding that I'm happiest as a techie.
What do you enjoy most about your role/working in IT?
Using technology to make a real difference to people's lives.
And what is your least favourite aspect about your role/working in IT?
Where policy' takes precedence over doing the right thing for customers.
