The Amazon Dash Button is the company's latest step towards becoming a truly on-demand goods service, allowing customers to re-order household essentials with the press of a button.
Part of the Internet of Things, the Dash Button connects to your Amazon account via WiFi. Each Dash Button is linked to a specific product - press the button, and it will automatically place an order for that product with Amazon, with guaranteed next-day delivery.
Can I use Amazon Dash?
Products ordered with Amazon's Dash Buttons have next-day delivery guaranteed. In order to use them, however, you'll need an Amazon Prime membership. Thankfully though, the service isn't subject to the same location restrictions as the company's one-hour Prime Now deliveries.
How much is the Amazon Dash Button?
The Amazon Dash Button is effectively free. Available from Amazon with next day delivery, the Dash Button costs 4.99, but in order to counter-balance this, Amazon offers 4.99 off the first order made via Dash Button.
How to set up an Amazon Dash Button
Setting up your Dash Button is simple. First, connect it to your Wi-Fi, then link it to the Amazon app and pick which product you want to link it to - this dictates what order is placed when you press it. You can set up multiple Dash Buttons, and they can be mounted either with reusable adhesive or a removable plastic hook.
What can I get on Amazon Dash?
At time of launch, there are 48 brands with products available to order via Amazon Dash Buttons. These include toiletries, household cleaning products, pet food and more.
However, the number of available products is likely to increase dramatically as the service catches on - Amazon reported that the number of brands with Dash Button products expanded four times faster in 2016 than it did in 2015.
