London City Airport promotes its CIO to COO
The airport's ex-CIO will still manage IT in new role
Alison FitzGerald has been named as London City Airport's COO, looking after operations still performing a vital role overseeing the airport's IT systems.
FitzGerald joined London City Airport in 2014 and for the last two years, she's been instrumental in the digital transformation of the organisation, making the customer experience more convenient for passengers passing through it everyday.
"Since joining the airport I have been involved in multi-million pounds projects in check-in, security, ramp services and new infrastructure construction to name a few," FitzGerald said.
"I'm delighted to have been appointed as the new COO and look forward to driving the business forward, continuing to deliver our passenger proposition of 20-minute check-in and 15-minute arrival, in the face of increasing demand, and maintaining the operation while we deliver our development plans."
Before joining London City Airport as CIO, FitzGerald was CIO at the Financial Times and before that, she spent 16 years working in the financial sector at Abbey/Santander.
"Alison quickly became an integral part of the executive team in her role as CIO and her remit spread into all areas of the business," Declan Collier, CEO at London City Airport added. "She is an excellent leader and was an obvious choice for COO. She will be a huge asset to the operation."
London City Airport has recently been granted permission by the Government for 344 million worth of expansion to help it serve 6.5 million passengers per year across 111,000 flights.
